Check the Intel site for diagrams of how it works. Look for AGP specifically.
Look here. But everything needs to go thru the FSB, which for most part is the memory and bus (PCI-bus) controller. The CPU does only communicate with the FSB, not much more
Depends on whether you mean Athlon 64/Opteron or not.
AFAIK, with P4s/Athlon XPs/etc. it goes like this:
CPU --[FSB]--> Northbridge --[AGP]--> Video card
But with A64/Opteron there is no FSB per se...just that funky HT link. Read up at anandtech if you want to know more.
Thanks for all information and links. It cleard up a lot. I just wanted to know if the FSP also was a bottle neck when you send information to a GPU.
