Playing DVDs on Linux OS
I have a DVD player and am running Mandrake 9.2 (or something close), but the player it comes with can't read the DVD. Do I need some kind of codec, or a whole new media player?
I'm a total Linux noob trying to find out how to watch DVDs. Thanks in advance.

Try:where 1 is the title number.
gxine should work as well.
If not, then it's the distro's fault for not building in the CSS unscrambling code that you need.

lol that's funny.... the dvd protection method was cracked by a person that wanted to run it on linux.. and it's that hard to get it to work?

Not really. The distros sometimes have to play by the rules (thou shalt not distribute DeCSS). The fact that the software exists doesn't mean they can put it in easily.
Remember Red Hat and the mp3 issue?
As a FYI, it works perfectly on my Linux-based system :)
