Got no idea why my PC got frequent restart.
ANyone noe of any cause? My bet now is my memory is going bad.
Cos i just changed my MB to ABIT NF7-S.. SHouldnt be my mobo problem..
And recently one of my memory module suddenly went dead. And now i am running on only 1 memory module which is only 256 mb now.
Could it be the memory is dieing soon too??? :confused:
I would guess its a heat issue. Go into the BIOS and see if you can get any temperature readings, then leave your computer on for a while and see if the temperature fluctuates.
currently i am using a system monitor tool provided by ABIT when i bought my MOBO.
It shows here my SYSTEM temp is 40 degress celcius and my processor is 51 degress celcius.
Is it good or bad? 51 too hot?
Those temps. are a bit on the warm side but nothing that would warrant a shut down or restart. Are all of your case fans going round & round ? Do you have any case fans ? Also check for viruses and spyware.
didn't MSBlaster do something like that?
basically it was typing in:
shutdown -t 60 in MS-DOS prompt (I think).
right click your My Computer icon. click Properties.
Click Advanced tab
Click Startup and Recovery button.
Uncheck Automatically Reboot if checked.

Now if it is a driver problem, you should get a Blue Screen instead of reboot. It should tell you the driver name that caused the crashed. See if you can search the net for what the driver is for, then update to altest drivers for whatever it is.
Could be network card, modem, video card, sound card.
51 degrees C idling? That could be problematic. At full-load what does the temp reach? You may want to invest in a better heatsink, like one from ThermalTake.
Certain applications that have memory leaks or other problematic code could be causing the system to go unstable. You may want to experiment by trying to isolate a program that may causing the error.
What brand of RAM do you have? Is it ECC or Registered? I've used Crucial RAM and have had no RAM-specific problems. But certain programs have caused my system to crash. That's when I delete them!
Hm... currently i am at work now. So cant try the method "poke-the-eye" says. but i will unchecked that the first thing i get home.
Right now i am running memtest at home with my pc on.
Yah 50degress is kinda hot after consultating some experts in this fields. The reason for it might be the thermal paste was not replaced when i changed my MOBO.
I will get this tommorow.

1) Check thermal paste, that the heatsink in attached securely, and that there is nothing obstructing the heatsink's fan.
2) Blaster Worm isn't a virus per se. Make sure you run Windows Update.
3) Like Cander suggested - ensure the system won't reboot on bluescreen and then you'll have a better idea of what's crashing it.
To give you an idea of the temperatures you're running, take a look at the image below. This is while I'm running Visual Studio .Net, 4xInternet Explorer, SQL Server 2000 Developer's Edition, WinVNC, Windows Messenger, Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition etc. etc.
