Hi.
I newly baught a new mainboard and a new gfx card and I don't kow how to configure BIOS correctly.
The settings I want to know more about are these:
AGP Aperture Size (64M)
AGP Driving Control (Auto)
AGP Driving Value (Disabled (Gets enabled when setting Driving Control to Manualy))
AGP Fast Write (Disabled)
AGP Master 1 WS Write (Disabled)
AGP Master 1 WS Read (Disabled)
I use a Creative 3D Blaster GeForce FX 5600 Ultra with 128 MB.
How should these values be set and what do they do?
AGP Aperture Size is the ammount of system RAM the graphics card is allowed to use after it has used all of its RAM.
Leave the settings alone.
Driving control is controlling the signal strength between the card and your board.Quote:

Fast write enables writing of multiple commands, instead of 'one at a time'.
AGP Master write/read 1 WS lowers the Wait State to 1, instead of the default of 2.
If you ask at Beyond3d.com you may get an answer from ATI or NVIDA....there are so many ****ed up 3D HW freaks over there...

Do you think i should "leave the settings alone" or should i change something? I don't know what will give the best performance.
Fast write is a performance setting. So would settings the Read/Write Wait States (WS) to 1.
Your aperture should be about half your RAM. I have 512 MB DDR, so I have mine at 256 MB.
If you want a real performance boost then properly clock your RAM.
Lower the Cas latency, put bank interweave at 4, etc. basically, if you can lower the number it'll probably make it go faster. ;)
I also have 512 MB DDR RAM, so i could probably change that...
The thing is that my GFX card gets really hot when playing games...
Sometimes the computer automaticly reboots while playing demanding games, but i don't know if that is related to the heat.
Will it get hotter by boosting it in different ways?
the AGP Aperture Size is always subjective
get yourself a 3d benchmark and tinker around to see what settings produce the best results
as far as heat goes, what is your setup like? lots of air flow etc? also is there an extra power cable coming out of the card and is it plugged in
My card has an extra power cable and it's plugged in.
There should be lot's of air flowing, but the computer is placed under my desktop where there aren't much cold fresh air for it to use.
I have two fan ports on the back of my computer[see image]. So I made a conduit to allow my fan on the CPU heatsink to blow directly out the back of my computer. My CPU temp is down several degrees now.

8 5.25 " drive slots. 4 3.5 slots.
I also have a board(ABIT KR7a) will fills the case(7 expansion slots).
Spots for 3 case fans, I only use one though... I suppose my heatsink fan is technically a case fan.
