Noticed a dead link source in the add in the top right corner... just saying...
Please explain.
Well, you know the advertisement frame in the top right of the page, I saw an error 404 meaning it's a dead link... If I see it again, I'll check what was the adress...Quote:

and I duno what the src link is... I can't see the php code... only html sooo
Curious, I haven't seen a dead image or anything. Are you sure you don't have any kind of firewall or something in your hosts file that might prevent a certain ad from showing up?
I've been browsing around the boards a lot today and haven't seen anything.
Ruku, did it only happen once? If so its probably just a bad connection while you connected to the sub page.
Nop, a few times... That's why I could post what it showed... and ya I got a firewall... but it shouldn't disable html browsing! nyways, some other people must've seen the same dead page... anyone?Quote:

Ad blockers and the likes can do that. I have it at home, and I see the 404 page all the time.
At work, on Firefox, I see nothing.
(Hmm... shouldn't it be the other way around? Firefox at home and IE at work... :D )
Hmm, but I have no add-blocker, it's simply a firewall, (BlackIce), who detects probes, sub7 attacks, etc and logs which port where used over what connection, and does an auto-traceroot to log the attackers gets info on them, etc etc...
Nothing about html browsing, nothing about window title search shuting down undesired pages. Sooo, ?
Is it still doing it Ruku?
Is anyone else seeing this? If not, then it must be something with your machine.
Adds totally gone now. Blue bars go all the way across. As Brad once said this means there is no active add in place when this happens. Before that though I've always been seeing the add, never a 404 error.
lol, true, so the AD... I think is this, and it doesnt work:Quote:

That link works perfectly for me. It's for a LiveMeeting 30-day trial. Do you see nothing when you go to it? :confused:Quote:

Is there something in your HOSTS file that blocks access to that site?Quote:

\Windows Dir\System32\Driver\etc
It contains mapping of domain name to IP address. When you type an URL in the address bar it is always converted to IP adress using DNS Lookup. First thing Windows checks is the host file to see if there is any entry(a sort of cache) for that. As far as i know it originated from Unix system.
e.g www.vbforums.com to 63.236.73.220
If there is no entry then it will do DNS lookup to retrive the IP and then connect. If there is a IP specified then it will connect to that IP.
So as you can see if someone modifies your host file, they can redirect you to www.microsoft.com when you type www.vbforums.com.
The host file is a text file called host without any extension. By default it contains only one entry.
127.0.0.1 localhost
This means when you type localhost in your addressbar it will redirect you to your local IP adress(known as loopback address).
If you have Kazaa Lite installed, it edits your host file and blocks certain ad sites (for your own good). That could be the reason.
I've passed this thread information to the ad administrator.
Thanks Guys,
Brad!
