Does anyone know how I would be able to find an electromagnets effective range given volts/amps and twists per inch?
What do you mean twists per inch?
The amount of times you coil the wire around your given object, iron bar, nail, that sort of thing.
I thought the range was very large (theoritically infinate). Youd have to work out the Tesla's produced at the magnet itself, then use the inverse square law. At least I think so. But I don't know how to work out tesla's, sorry.

I would not go there, it is really complicated stuff. Ihad some of it at school, a 900 pages book, and after that, I knew less then before.
