I love the quick reply
I love it too, but I hate that it is not adding me to the subscribed thread thingy...:(....then I have to click one more link, and then it is just as fast as pressing the post reply button....
if you read those links, you'd notice that one of them has a "quick reply causes subscribed thread" option that goes in the usercp
The administration around here doesn't like to add any hacks or underlying code changes, since the same IT people have to update hundreds of forums and reinstall/change all the stuff, blah blah.
But I think they should consider this, since it would help save a little on bandwidth. One less click the user would have to make while they view and reply.
I think Quick Reply is already a part of vbBulletin, dont think you will need a hack for that. Though i am not 100% certain. One of the admin or mod will be able to tell us if there is a option for that.Quote:

Just read the articles provided by the thread creator, seems like it is a hack :(Quote:

The creators of one of the hacks makes it look like it is an extremely painless hack to install....
Yet still a hack...Quote:

it'd be nice to know if any admins are even reading this and considering it.
this is a forum of programmers, i don't see why it would be a big deal for us to install or create forum hacks..... or so it would seem...
I'm sure it would be no big deal if this was the only site that Jupitermedia supports, but it's not - there are dozens - and as I've said many times before, the same group of people support all the sites and it's too difficult to support hacks in that knid of environment.Quote:

vBull has the support for quickreply built in unless you're using a very old, archaic version so there shouldn't be a need for any "hacks".Quote:

I'll see what Brad has to say.
Brad is busy with changes to CodeGuru this week. He'll take a look at this issue when that is finished.
and as shown by the footer at this site, we are using v2.3.4
Correct. At this time I believe 2.3.4 is the most current release (give or take a third level point or two). Version 3.0 is still in beta.Quote:

And Martin (or Brad) stated that they would install hacks if it was something that they really saw great use for. I'm not saying this is necessarily 'great', but pointing out that they said there can be exceptions.Quote:
