I can code in C++ and my visual basic skills are improving all the time. But i think i need a third launguage if i want to stand any chance in the job market in the future. I'm thinking PHP, but then theres DB programming, html, XML, Perl etc... I really dont know that much about the web launguages. Any suggestions ?
HTML and XML can probably be learned in a weekend, they're just simple mark-up tags. No logic or anything really needed like in an actual language.
Picking a language depends on what you want to do. I went from C++ to VB.NET to C# (as well as learning some PHP here and there and I knew XHTML/CSS before I knew C++)
Want to work with web applications? Learn PHP, CGI or PHP (You can use CGI in C++ so it may be easier for you)
Want to make VB like applications that have better performance/better syntax style? Go for C# or maybe even Java (though I think VB.NET outperforms Java so ignore the first commend).
Or learn a framework like wxWindows for C++ or OpenGL or DirectX.
SQL and PL/SQL or TSQL

Agreed, a language is a language anymore. Sure there are little things to learn, and hurdles to overcome, but T-SQL, SQL, PL/SQL...that will make you marketable than adding another language to your belt.
well i think you know c++ and VB then you should go for ASP it is a web based scripting language and is compatible with your VB applications and easier for you learn as you know VB.
Learning ASP would be a cake-walk for you. So my suggestion is go for PHP. Setting it up is really easy.
Its available on major platforms and its really cool.
