I have just developed a website for a client, and am doing the hosting for them.
They have said that they want to do their own updates to the website, and so our contract ends at that, however should they NEED me to do more work on their website, how much should I charge them? Hourly? Per issue?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
I would say about 45$/hour would be what I would charge.
I second that amount.
Some things are slowly moving into the Fixed Price Mode. So ask them to pay you a fixed sum of money every month. Tell them that you will do a minimum number of tasks in a month. For example 3 tasks. Size of the task can be fixed to 5 days. If they come up with the task or not you still get the money. Charge about $1500 a month for 3 tasks. They could have one big task involving all the 15 days of your time. Its a WIN-WIN situation for both parties.Quote:

I would doubt they have $1500 dollars a month worth of updates.
If you really want the work, and its all simple mundane stuff, I'd say $20 or something.
If you don't, then I'd say $45. Most likely if you tell them its $45, they'll figure out how to do it on their own.
Not that $45 is expensive...
The only real rule out there is ask yourself "How much do I want to get paid if they phone me up and ask me to do it?"
If you look at the $20 an hour and thing "Not worth my time", then don't bother.
