The best I can suggest is to look at this post for an answer to the same question. Basically you need to get VB6

ADO shipped starting with vb6, so it is not included with vb5 and you need to either get vb6 or use DAO
If you download MDAC from Microsoft, you can use it with VB5 - http://www.microsoft.com/data
