1. Did you make the boot floppies? If not, see 2Quote:

2. Put in your Windows disc, go into the recovery console. Type in fixboot and fixmbr. Then remove disc and reboot. If that didn't work, see 3.
3. FORMAT
ill try #2, when i find the cd...if i have to settle for #3, i will cry
you know what it's doing...the xp startup screen flashes repeatedly, but it never starts up. i cant go into safe mode either. do you think #2 will still work? (i cant try it right now cuz i dont have the cd)Quote:

boot from the cd and follow the directions..... it is impossible to format your OS when you're in your OS so being able or not being able to boot into XP/2K wouldn't make a difference.Quote:

obviosly i dont listen...i am not as active in the forum as some of you guys
Before you format, try reinstalling Windows WITHOUT formatting. This should fix any problems that have been created on the OS install and your data should be saved.
Unless it was a problem with partitioning, in which case, you HAVE to format :(
yea, it was a partitioning problem so i reformatted already. luckily, i have all the data on another computer. *whew*Quote:

I dont know, i should look at the license now....(though it is too late):(
So have you actually got it running again now? My last format took me an hour to release a driver was corrupt, but with being frustrayed i didnt see the exclamation mark in Add New Hsrdware configuration. Just a tip if you experience problems:)
alright...so...i formatted my HD, and tried partitioning it again before I did anything so I wouldn't have to re-format over and over. well, I partitioned it w/Partition Magic on purpose, just to see if it sucked that much. it worked...so now i'm 2 for 3 when using PM.
