cannot open the solution file

I cannot open the solution file, I met the following message:

Selected file is not a valid Visual Studio solution file

am I missing something?

please advise .. thanks a lot in advance

are you trying to open a vs2003 solution in vs2002?

Yes .. I think so, my friend send me a solution file then I open it by using my VS2002 .. any idea? ..( I don't have VS2003) ..

according to my post earlier, it really shouldn't make a difference if you or he have 2002 or 2003, right?

I ran into a similar problem: make sure that you are trying to open it FROM the ide's open dialog. if you are trying to open it by simply clicking on the sln file, you will get an error.

you can't open a vs2003 project with vs2002 :) , if i remember correctly Edneeis has a link to a convertor that will make a vs2003 project openable from vs2003 in his signature.

Not sure about Edneiss, Pirate has one in his signature for sure.
