David Beckham... to get an OBE!?!?!?!

Has the world gone totally mad?

Doctors and nurses save thousands of lives every year, and they get a pay cut, but David Beckham gets a £20m rise for putting a ball between two posts... AND GETS AN OBE FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :mad:

I've nothing against him as a person... but he doesn't deserve that! There was a day when an OBE was an honour, and actually meant you'de made something of yourself in this mad world... but throwing them at someone that can barely string two words together... is an insult!

He probably earns more in one week, then most qualified doc's do in a whole year! The NHS is fubar, the UK government wants £5 Billion pounds to help build Iraq (which people like you and I will have to pay for!) and now 'they' are rewarding DB with an OBE for Fcuk's sake!

Anyone else agree, or am I just sounding jealous? :p

The principal at this college has an OBE, I don't know how the hell he got it. Well, all I have to do now is rise to government and give more money to the NHS and school, right??

Do you really think the politicians care about the NHS? They all have private health care anyway, it's just something they can use to keep us happy (they're not doing too well though).

I agree. It comes to something when even they won't trust the NHS! I forget who it was now... but a labour MP sent her daughter to a private school instead of a state school, and she was dragged through the mud for it! I don't blame her for making the choice she did... but people seem to think as she's a member of parliament, she must follow everything they do. She may work with them, but it doesn't mean she agree's with everything! :)

Some people said "if she wasn't happy sending her child to a state school... she should have mentioned it at the next cabinet meeting and voice her concerns". Nearly EVERYONE voiced there concerns when it came to the war with Iraq... and a fat lot of good that was. Tony Blair/JW Bush should have made the decision as leaders of a nation, instead they put the UK and US population under an increased threat!

Wouldn't it be nice to see a politician make a decision as a person, and not hide behind policies and fear of losing their jobs!

OBE = Order of the British Empire...so presumably he has the right to parade sheep round the Falkland islands or something equally daft.

This is god's honest truth... i'm watching the TV in the background and a chap that begged outside downing street for a meeting with the PM has been offered an OBE!!!!!!!! My god..... AAAAARGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!

This government is absolutely bonkers! Someone needs a real bloody good slapping over this! I cannot believe it! :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

These people run our country for **** sake!!! Why not give him some money and a big house too?!?!?!?! Because his brother was killed whilst in police custody... they feel they need to do something to make themselves look better! Try integrating some racial equality in the forces... and maybe the problems will sort themselves out! I feel for the family of the poor chap, but an OBE is just... well... lame :mad: :mad: :mad: This chap declined it, which earns him respect in itself. That would have been the mistake of all mistakes if that went ahead!

As you can all probably gather... i'm a little annoyed over this! So much so infact... i'm in the process of buying a domain for anyone in the UK (or elsewhere i suppose) can voice their concerns about this government, and if they feel they are doing a good job.

I don't know why i'm so pissed about this... I just am! :mad: :rolleyes:
