Hello,
Is it possible to get any information about an EXEcutable file?
I have a *.EXE - no source code - but I want to know where it came form originally, and who created it. Can I use a command or look somewhere in the registry to discover any inforamtion?

Right click on the file and go to properties. All the info that you want to know will be stored in the various tabs there, or not at all.
I doont think that u can get any info from an exe apart from what is said in the last message.

Viewing the properties only gives me attributes of the physical file, such as size, location, last used date, etc., but not where it came from, or who authored it.

True, but thats why its the properties of the file... to know other things about the file you would have to build a program that keeps logs of your entire system, and allways make it run since the very beggining of your system so that pretty much all files written would get logged... Well at least that's for windows... I'm not sure, but I think Linux may have a few features about the file formats and attributes... But I'm still a n00b in Linux, so don't ask me...! :wave:
