Get one of the new x8 speed ones.
get a cheap 2x to hold u over til the dual layers drop in price
i was kinda looking for suggestions on brand/model
For Example:
Plextor PX-708A (8X:D)
Anything by Plextor is going to be good. I just got the PX-708A and it is great!
Lite-on is a pertty good brand, but i'd wait till the dual-layer DVD burners come out, then they will be faster as well and cheaper.
Ideas Man, its like you took the words out of my mouth.
i guarantee when the dual layer drives come out they will be at least 300 smackers (read: them literally smacking u in the face with every over charged dollar)
or are u referring to current drives being cheaper in the future
No i doubt they will up the price. They didn't when burners offered buffer underrun protection or with every speed increase, they became cheaper kinda.
I agree with dis1411, the newest model is always the most expensive, but it can make the previous models cheaper.
I have bought my self a DVD burner. A cheap one just to be able to burn, before I will buy a double layered when the prices are good.
I have a Pioneer DVR-106. It is not the fastest on earth. But it is very reliable, and no problem to tweak to be be multi zone readable. So you can burn your DVDs to be zone 0. And you can burn DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW, that is usefull.....
Instead of spending a lot of money on a dvd-rw, I just use my dvd-r to rip the movies and then I burn them as vcd's.
Loosing a lot of quality there man....
Yeah I know but it doesnt bother me that much, I only do it if I just have to have that movie on a cd.
It bothers me a lot. Becuase I just bought my self a new Panasonic Widescreen and a new Panasonic Suround package....and it rules with good sound and film quality...:D
So watch the original DVD instead of going through the trouble of copying it. Really how many times are you going to watch the same movie?
