Hello people
I've installed a good lot of updates today(microsft update system) but after I restarted my PC the taskbar and startmenu turned all black and I can hardly work anymore :confused:
I've tried the system restore thing and pressed on the "windows update v4 system checkpoint) but it didn't help at all :(:(:(
using windows XP pro (no SPs)
hope someone can help me :cry:

Maybe search for new drivrs for the video card
Or check the theme settings (if they still excists in XP)
I did the same thing with my Win2K laptop yesterday. SP 4, and then when I restarted my screen was black. Then I restarted again and then it worked great.
Errr orrrr then my network card didn't work, and when I finaly reinstalled my network card again after some times then everything worked.....not sure what was wrong actually.
XP themes still exist. when I change to normal(not XP) I can see the taskbar again
video card and everything is updated(why should this be the problem? 3d games still work it's only the task bar and start menu)
hmmm reinstall something? I don't know what I should reinstall 'cos every device seems to work just fine
thanks for your time I will format my whole system anyway in a few weeks
