format, you probably have a virus
hell i aint formattin
Tracert is a program... you should be able to run it in the winnt\system32 dir.
Help is also a program.
It seems you may have lost your path setting(s).
DiGiTaIErRoR is probably right.
try typing "PATH" at the command prompt and see what you get.
It should look like:
PATH=C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem
If not, set it to the above. It should work.
If not, the hell you're not formatting. :)
OK that close. It works. But if I close cmd.exe and re-open it, it loses the path.
"Path" is an environment variable, so if you set it in the right place it should always stay correct.
Set it in:
Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> environment variables.
It should be listed under "System Variables", if not you'll need to add it.
Here's what I did and it still doesnt work. It only works if I type the path in the prompt

Lose the 'PATH=' portion and try it again.
thanks
Any time :)
Wonder how he lost it.
Glad my suggestion led to a resolving of this issue.
