i need to figure out how to get an icon from a imagelist using api. when i send lvm_getitem to the listview it just returns the index of the icon in it's image list but i can't find a way to get the icon itself. this is all api. any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, I am not sure how you would do this :(
However, at www.vbAccelerator.com they have the source code for their custom imagelist....dunno if this may help, but it may use the same things as you are trying to do.
