VB6 or not

Hello,

Kind of a stupid question but...

I have been writing in vb.net for a little over a year now. Currently I have VB.Net standard. I just got my hands on Visual Studio Enterprise edition and I'm very intrigued with all the extra tools it comes with as compared to VB.Net standard. Would it be stupid to go, more or less"backwards", and learn VB6, just to have access to the tools in the enterprise edition? Because god knows I can't afford to upgrade to Visual Studio.Net Enteprise!

I Know its kind of an odd place to post this question but I figured most of you guys had to of come from a VB6 background.

That is like saying something like this:

I have a Pentium 166 computer that comes with a lot of extra software, and I also have a Pentium 2+ ghz machine without all the extra software, but with more advanced functionality and will save me a lot of time. Which do I choose.

My argument for you would be... do you use all those tools that the VS6 includes? Or are you just impressed by them? My guess is you don't want those extra tools to go to waste. Let them go... VB.Net is here to stay, and it would be a step back to go to VB6 if you already have VB.Net. Or, find time to use and learn both. You will find that you want the .net functionality over VB6....I am sure.

i am going to buy vs.net (not sure of the versions yet) and right now i use vb6ee and was woundering if microsoft changed all the code around or would i be able to use most of the vb functions(basic/intermediate) in vs.net. anouther thing i would like to ask are they selling a vb.net version instead of the whole package?

There are some tools come with .NET but maybe they are hidden from the user . Some of them are new to all VB editions like : dotfuscator , reg tool , Cmdline tool ...etc .

Well a few of the major tools are the setup and deployment packages that VS6, compared to the very primative ones in VS.Net standard. Also the dat6a report feature is nice.
I also have Crystal Reports Version 8.0, but heard that it doesn't integrate well with VS.Net, or at least I haven't found a good way yet.

but vs.net ent. installs crystall reports extensions and controls. personaly though i hate crystal reports and stopped messing with them in vb 5 i liked the report object in vb6 but it was tricky sometimes. haven't done any reports with .net yet but a solution that would be easy is using the asp.net host and displaying an aspx generated report
