Being a little more specific could help, but you can use the MSComm control the com port. Read through the help files on the MSComm control.
I hope you do not mean power 5 motors from the comm port! you will be sadly disappointed!

what do the motors listen for???
simple on off or some sort of unique code?
What i am truing to do is design a robotic arm that is controlled by computer.
this arm has 5 motors in it , the polaritu must be reversible.
and no i do not want to power it from the comm port.
