Too many people ask VB.NET questions in this forum because nothing says it's meant only for VB5/6. The description should also mention that the .NET forum is further down.
What do you all think?

I don't see any forum for VB.NET questions. I see a forum for code bank, but not questions.
Pull down on your scrollbar!
Oh yea it is all the way at the bottom hehe.
lol i kind of like when everyone asks different question in this one hehe it makes it a all language forum :D
it just makes it confusing. the .net people asking about .net does not tell the people that they are using .net, and then when we provide them with a vb 5/6 answer they say 'it doesn't work!' and then a few days later he says 'is it because i'm using .net?'
I guess I've had enough beers to jump in here. Hu Flung Dung and BuggyProgrammer, IMHO, are absolutely correct.
My very first post to "General VB Coding Questions" was about VB.NET. I just plain didn't know any better (and no, I didn't scroll). Luckily, someone, very politely, told me I was in the wrong forum.
As a relative newbie to both, it's extremely confusing to me. Since moderators aren't Nazis around here, users should, politely, point people in the right direction.
Good point HFD. With a title like that (VB6), the .net users may relaise that is not the forum for them and seek out a .netQuote:

forum down the list.
Bruce.
Well, the thing is that there would have to be a name so people who don't know better wouldn't go around looking for a question about VB 5.0 or something.
On second thought, do it, we might keep some folks out who would ask us if we have L33T B00t C0d3s For Yahoo.
How aboutQuote:

'General VB5/6 Coding Questions' then? :p
People using anything less don't deserve an answer ;) :D
VB is VB and VB.net is VB.net
I vote for just putting a more explicit description letting people new to the forums to search furthur down for VB.net.
But what the hell do I know, Im new here and Im still learning :)
How 'bout we just rename this place
The VB-and-ONLY-VB-absolutely-no-VB.NET-or-someone-will-whine Forum ? :D
.....seriously, is this REALLY a topic of discussion?....re-friggen-lax
Nobody reads the descriptions! Thats why the title needs to be changed.
I don't care if people post VB.NET questions in the old VB forum (I'd prefer VB.NET over old VB any day). I just think it would be annoying for newbies who are having trouble in VB.NET (and too newbie to realize its completely different from vb6) to post their question here only to get the response "Post in the VB.NET forum please."
Oh, and why the heck would people still be using VB5? Are these the same people that still use Windows 95?
Hu Flung is not whining like you guys think. All he is saying is that some noobs would benefit more if they posted their questions in VB.Net if that is what they are working with. Otherwise they might get a response to post in VB.Net, or they might not even mention they are using VB.Net and we give them a solution for VB6 and they can't get it to work. So they struggle with it for longer than they really should if they knew to post their question in VB.Net.
perhaps moving the VB.NET forum right under General VB.
and Hu flung Dung.... VB5 is basically VB6 with a few functions like InstrRev missing. comparing it with Win 95 is a HORRIBLE comparison. maybe VB4 is more correct for Win95 comparison.
maybe move the .net section above the code bank?
VB.NET SUCKS, GET THOSE L4M3RS OUT OF HERE!! :D  :p
wacky tabacky?
ATTN: Moderators
Why is this thread still in this section? Why has it not been shifted to a chit-chat section or closed? Are u all not looking into it? I hope u are awake now and can see it.
Well, you guessed it. The mods are asleep at the moment... They will probably move it as soon as they see it ;)Quote:

I still maintain its a valid point. :)
I like the idea of moving VB.Net right under this one in the list, that'd likely fix all this.
hey how about if we move it ABOVE the VB section? that's perfect!!! people at general VB won't get questions about .NET and people in .NET will get all the VB6 questions!!!
:D
LOL Bug. :pQuote:

I really like your ideas (the real ones). However, what if we were to have different forum-groups? Something like this:
Visual Basic - Related
General VB5/6 Coding Questions
General VB.NET Coding Questions
VB5/6 Codebank
VB.NET Codebank
etc...
C - Related
General C/C++ Coding Questions
General C# Coding Questions
C/C++ Codebank
C# Codebank
etc...
Other languages:
PHP
Assembly
etc...
Language Independant
Project Requests
General Developer
etc...
Misc
Chit Chat
Math
etc...
If we were to separate the forums like this, I think it'd be much easier to read and find what you're looking for!
Yea, mostly true for me, and Woka is a scary MoFo when he gets a talkin'.
meh. leave me alone ;)
The VB.Net forum is being moved up to just below the normal VB forum - so people will be able to see a lot easier that there's a seperate forum for VB.Net :)
i refer you to my post before last ;)
Yes, plender, but what you need to do is move the forums location up to the to..........
