Hello all,
I'm having a problem with my pc for quite some time now. My pc reboots itself from time to time, as you can imagine, this is quite annoying. I'm hoping someone here has had this kind of trouble or knows how to fix this.

Have you overclocked it? If so, you've gone somewhat to far. Try setting the speed from the memory and CPU slower, and increase the CPU voltage. And make sure you have the newest drivers
IRQ conflicts, move your PCT cards and INT# around...
Try updating drivers for various hardware like video card, net work card, modem, sound card. Bad drivers can cause Blue Screen crashes , and by default Windows reboots when it gets blue screens.,
Could be your PSU is not putting the correct voltages out resulting in system instability, that being the usual cause. Especially with generic PSUs. Your CPU could also be overheating, and instead of letting the CPU fry, it reboots.
What OS are you on? Hardware specs?
What OS do you have?
Run memtest86 to either convict or acquit the memory.
Sounds Win98 or ME . Maybe memory damage or programs conflicting in the background . Press ALT+CTRL+Del and close all programs except IE , systray .
RPC exploit
Start>run type in "services.msc" and go to RPC (It will be in parenthesis)
Double lick and go to recovery, change lal the drop down boxes to "take no action"
If you still have the problem, then you don't have the RPC exploit and it's probably a hardware problem
Check for the Blaster virus. Look here for a check-program.
If it gets rebooted while connected to the net , then your system infected with Blaster.Worm . Two of my friends got this worm , I tried the removal tool that Norton released , it's fake . Get the MS update for this virus .
The norton utility is not fake to remove it as long as you get it form norton's website.Quote:

I had a problem similar, at times my modem was bothering my ram for some reason or another and it would lockup or restart. T
en when i went to 2 512mb ddr 2700's (from 256 SD) it wouldnt boot, just a black screen so i removed device after device untill i got to my modem. Then i get zapped by one on the capators so it got shattered...
Anyway im rambling, good luck at figuring out your problem
Also check your cpu fan
Any new hardware added b4 it started causing problems???
Hence switch off the pc before entering hands onto electrical device :D :D :D
Does sound like blaster to me
Check cpu temperature in the bios next time it occurs ;) ;)

only if i hadn't turned off automatic updates.... wasted a couple of hours trying to get rid of it
I ran that tool , search began , told me the virus was deleted . I then , rescaned and found the virus again in the same folder (system32) . It does nothing . The solution is : use last good configuration and download MS update , delete previous connection wizard , recreate it , then your system should be virus-free.Quote:
