Do like to send your code so, we can see what type of code is cracked and how!

Good try, but i managed to crack it in a couple of minutes.

Your code begins by disregarding the first two characters of the inputted password. The following characters must be numeric because they will be used as a number. It then divides this number by 25.68 and if the answer is equal to 315762528500, the password is accepted. So, to get a working password, just multiply 315762528500 by 25.68 and then add any two characters before; e.g. xx8108781731880 would be a valid password.

one easy way to make this harder on a beginner cracker is to use a pe packer/encrypter on your exe...... it will encrypt your code so they cant use a disassembler on it.

As well as packing, i'd also recommend some extra anti-debugging/smartcheck and anti-dissasembling routines.

The good commercial packers will have anti-debugging and anti-disassembling routines in them. The only problem is there's unpackers for most packers out there...

There was a real good packer out there which there wasnt an unpacker for... But I cannot remember the name. But it was $150 :/ ... And there was no crack for the program... Because they used their own packer on their own program, lol. :|

That's why i said extra anti-debugging/dissasembling routines. :p

I haven't come across many home-brew packers that do more than just create a self extracting .exe with a modified Program Entry Point.

But, if you remember the name of that unpacker, i'd really like to know. I suspect that with a few tweaks it would be possible to just dump it from memory.

Ya... that's the weakness of all programs and packing..... It has to be unpacked at some point... otherwise how is the o/s going to understand it :/

I wish I could remember the name..... I'll think of it eventually.

But the packer I've been using is ASPACK. One of the more popular ones... And it's pretty good.

Programmers Tools is a good site with many packers, disassemblers and system debuggers.

In this case, i used SoftIce to crack your program. There are, however, many other ways it could have been cracked. For example, it would have been possible to crack it by using SmartCheck or from a dead listing produced by IDA Pro/W32dasm. For all the cracking tools, except SmartCheck, you will need a sound understanding of assembly in order to be able to interpret what the program is doing.
