I had no problem with my webcam (in Win Xp Pro) untill recently that for unknown reason after unplugging and replugging, it does not work. When I plug it to the usb port it says: 'USB Device not recognized' . ' One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it...'
I checked the webcam with another PC and it works fine. Any idea for trouble shooting ?
In device manager , you may find it there , delete it and refresh (F3) . It may work .

You know I wouldnt have posted here unless I did my best to resolve the issue and searched for possible causes.
Plug it out , restart the machine , plug it in after loading finish if it still doesn't recognize it then sorry can't offer more help . :rolleyes:

I have recently faced some strange problems with my windows. I tried to connect another hard disk as a primary slave but despite it showing on bios and POST, the windows does not recognize it :(( All the jumpers and cables were ok, but ... I only could have it worked when i plugged it to the secondary IDE.
when I couldn't get a slave drive to show up... it did after I FDisked it and formatted it from dosQuote:

I have partitioned that hard disk using windows xp disk manager. You think thats the reason?Quote:

Maybe its time for a re-install of Windows. Also, for the webcam did you try another USB port? I had a similiar problem.

No, I dont think it be a software issue. I used my friends newly baught hard disk (Maxtor Fireball 3) and quickly installed a Windows ME on it. Still no success, and to my misfortune after the third boot up of windows ME the system stopped working and now the hard disk is not recognized any more and is dead!!!!Quote:

ME sucks. Maybe ur USB ports arent working right.

Done all but formating C: .Anyway I wouldnt do that cuase i now belive its a hardware problem, most probably with my mobo. I will get a PCI/USB card and try that instead of onboard USB's. I am also going to get another USB device to test.Quote:

Check in ur BIOS to see if you can disable the on-board USB, otherwise it may conflict with the new card.

I used a USB port and connected it to the socket of USB 2 on my mobo. It works fine now. Still I dont know whats wrong with the mobo onboard USB ports.
