Hi...
I wanna know please, what is the Learning Edition of VB6.
Can it compile projects into EXE files? Can it access all API functions, Can I program the TCP/IP with it?
Sometime ago, I had VB5 Control-Creation Edition, Yuck..., I could just make OCXs.
So, Please give me some details about the VB6 Learning Edition? What DOES it include and what it doesnt.
Thanks.

<?>
to my knowledge the learning editon is just that..you can play but you can't save stuff...it is, for lack of a better expression, read only. If you are looking for a cheaper version you need to be a student of an academic school or know someone and then you get the educational discount..ie..you can buy the professional edition for around $160.00 Canadian.

Well... i am currently working on VB5 Professional Edition.
I develop programs for Internet environment, and uses advanced data bases.
Should I switch to VB6 Enterprise Edition?
What are the VB6 Enterprise Edition advantages, that VB5 Professional, doesnt has???
-
Enterprise has lots of client/server stuff, as well as extra database support. It also comes with some profiling tools for your application.
-
the learning edition can compile exe's, you cant use winsock, you can use all the API calls
-
You can use the Winsock API, and if you import one tiny registry file you can use ALL the Enterprise controls. :D
-
actually, no you can use the winsock control, i think you mean MSCOMM control which is out of bounds!
-
Doesn't matter. If anyone wants one I can email them a .reg file to enable EVERY SINGLE VB5 Enterprise control.
-
tnx,
well i would like that + instructions how to.
i also have the VB6 Learning Ad. and i want to make it
as Enterprise as it can be.
pls tell me how to do that.
tnx again ,
