Is there any way I can do about getting scandisk after W2K boots (The scandisk dos-based not Windows's) ??
I doubt it'd be compatible with NTFS.
I need to run it after it loads kernel (you know the second phase of boot I think) . Sometimes it comes suddenly . I tried restarting the machine many times , did improper shutdown , but couldn't get it to scan my hd .
Would writing to boot.ini activate that ??
Look at the options for the disk checker, there's one to force a check on startup.
Where can I FIND that option ?? There is nothing similar in C: properties !
:(bump:(
Goto your drive properties and then Tools tab.
No , I've tried that already . It closes immediately after I click "Check Now" . The real problem is that the drive is not accessible . I got a problem while it's running fine . Suddenly power went off . so I got this problem .
:(
Wow... uh... That's a new one to me!
Your hard drive is most likely physically damaged.
I had exactly the same problem yesterday . http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.p...hreadid=252885 . If I could do chkdsk before boot complete , then it can be fixed . Although , I couldn't do what I've done yesterday . Weird ...
What happened yesterday was your drive failing.
It has probably completely failed now.
This shows after chkdsk in windows .
Anybody knows how to make W2K to do chkdsk while booting ??I'm totaly lost here .:(
Halfway solved . Not satisfied though ...
Thanks all.
In windows XP chkdsk /r for the boot partition will schedule a check disk at the next startup. Havent tried it in win2k but worths a try.
Too late Lunatic3 :( . I've got to reformat my hd . Happens all the time . Poor Pirate...:(Quote:
