Make the first patition (the 78 GB) smaller (eg 78 --> 70 GB), make a new partition of the freed 8GB
Install W2003Server on the 8GB partition (the newly created).
Nothing ****ed op
You will have issues with the bootloader most likely, as Windows 2003 will probably not add an entry for Linux.
So, after installing it, go play around with c:\boot.ini
Or alternatively, make a Linux boot disk, install windows, then go back into Linux and set up Grub on the MBR again.
Im using the LILO boot loader so there is no entry in the boot.ini file. So can i install Windows 2003 Serv? How?
I don't know about the linux side as I've never managed to install a version of this in the past, but here's a couple of pointers for the windows side of things...
1) If you want to play around resizing partitions as above, but don't want to lose windows or your files from the existing partition setup, use a program called Partition Magic.
2) Windows setups, by default will try & prompt you to upgrade any prior versions of windows which it finds are already installed on your machine. When you pop the win2003 cd in & start the install wizard, look through the very first screens & 1 will have an advanced options button where you can set that you want a clean (non - upgrade) install of windows & it'll have a checkbox stating "I want to choose the setup partition" to place this newer version of windows into which you'll want to set...
Thanx for the reply but i never said any partition setup option when i did it a few days ago but what i did was created a 8gig partition after my winxp (resized it down to 70) and formated it to ntfs. then i launched the setup and chose advanced install. then later in the setup i selected my new 8gig(or so) parttion and installed it to there. It works fine although i still havent booted in to linux (never enough time).
BTW: the picture of my partition setup above is from PM8 :D
