Origami Studio
NOTE: to get you excited, Origami, if you didn't know, means paperfolding.. for visual confirmation, follow the link in the paragraph following the next one..
i don't know if this exists already or not (i don't even know if it's under the same name) but, wouldn't it be great if a program called Origami Studio exists? i mean, i love Origami, it's time-consuming, and that's just what i need while i'm bored and got nothing to do.. so i ask all those with mad programming skills to give it a try.. all it needs is knowledge of either DirectX or OpenGL.. i can program it, but i'm not familiar at all with either..
i'm trying to imagine how it would look like.. you start off with a surface on a plane (of course you've got lighting and cool shading to give the feeling of a ShockWave 3d world, like this one here: http://www.soiku-mm.co.jp/origami/model/plain/0004.html) so think of it like you're constructing a building.. so you got all the tools you want, like folding either way, twisting, etc.. and it would be easy to make it easy itself, like when you want to make the first fold of the one i just posted its URL above, you set the folding points half way one both sides, and rotate it with a rotating tool or something.. also tools to colorize and shade, maybe shiny textures? or even to load up your favorite texture yourself..
it sounds like a Photoshop program, but believe me it's really easy, i can imagine that.. or it's just coz i don't have any experience with 3d programming..
so what do ya guys think?
