Viewing user selected fields in new form

I changed my idea of using word as my report engine. Instead I figured that it would be far simpler to use a vb form and print it!
Or so I thought?

Here is what the user needs to do:

1) type in a value in a textbox
2) this textbox will have a corresponding checkbox and the checkbox will have a caption.
3) When the user presses the button and has selected certain fields (textbox entries) using the checkboxes - these fields' values appear on the next screen along with their checkboxes' captions.

I have the code to do this in word but not in VB... the following must also be included in an if then statement:

4) If one of the fields a user selects is blank, its checkbox caption will appear as a list in another part of the form.

I know this is complicated but does anyone know how to do it?

Are you trying to use a form and me.print as a report ?

if you are are you determining the look of the form by using checkboxes in the current form to change the next form, which you will then print, is this about right ?

take two list boxes in new form

in form_load event write this

for i=1 to 10
if form1.chk1(i).value=true then
list1.additem form1.chk1(i).caption
else
list2.additem form1.chk1(i).caption
end if
next

not sure what me.print is.. but yes, checking the boxes off does determine the look of the next page and the next page will be printed...

THe tricky part is getting the program to recognise which ticked checkboxes have blank textboxes next to them and which have values in their corresponding textboxes.

THat would work really well except they need to be separated out like the checked boxes of array #'s 1-8 in the first, the ones with value in the second and the blank ones in the third: like this:

Thats a lot of Data !!!

I guess you want to know if there is an easy way to do this, the brute force and ignorance way is fairly simple, a massive case statement.

For an easy way I guess you would have to use control arrays, I have never used them.

Could you put the boxes and data in a flexgrid and have the user enter data into this, and highlight the row to say 'print', you could populate the grid from a list of 'conditions'

Only thing i dont know is how to use these characters properly:

the Idea is that the user Ticks a box and enters text next to it, and until both of these are done, nothing happens ?

when this is true then you show something on the next form ?

What you could do is check out the entry point 'validate XXXXX' where xxx is the field name (the text field).

if len(trim(me.xxxxx)) > 0 and me.checkbox = true then
show the relevant field on the next screen
do a lot of other stuff
else
hide the field on the next screen
do different stuff
end if

Would this work, it would reduce the size of the eventual case, into lots of little ones.

Not exactly sure what this means but i think im getting the idea lol.
Never used this code before so what is the 'other stuff' conditions where the checkbox and text boxes are filled? :)

Other stuff, in italian we call this Pippo, meaning whatever code you need to put in here, ie validation, running queries etc.
