Variable Type [RESOLVED]

Sorry for the dumb question, but I couldn't find it in any previous topics. How do I find out which variable type has been defined? I'm using a Variant and apply a value of 2 to it. However, when I define the variable as a single, double, integer, long or anything else it doesn't work. I need to know which variable type is used through the Variant. Thx.
