If all of you had a choice in your career to either get MCSE+ certified after 9 months or 4 whole years to get a Bachlor's degree in Visual Basic programming - what would you chose?
I figure that if I get my MCSE+ certification first - then have the company that hires me, give me the training on Visual Basic, later!
What is the lowest possible salary earnings between an
MCSE+ certified engineer and a Visual Basic programmer?
I love programming (did it since I was a kid) and would rather learn Visual Basic...but I can't afford to wait 4 years for a Bachelor's degree.
ALSO - How can I get info on the best Visual Basic Programming schools available.
Please reply...
I appreciate all's comments....
Trying to pick the right path to my future.

A couple of points for you.
No such thing as a "a Bachlor's degree in Visual Basic programming".
MCSE tends to be System Engineers, funnily enough. Do you want to get involved in the OS/plumbing site or cut-code?
"...best Visual Basic Programming schools available. " is a subjective measure.
Being employed as a MCSE systems guy may not lead to training in VB, as it might not be relevant to your job.
A Batchelor's degree is usually 3 years (here in Scotland), with the optional 4th year to get Honors (if you're good enough. Computer Science is a general degree in CS, learn how to programme (I learned Scheme, Java, Cobbol, Pascal, Eiffel, C/C++) - now I do VB. Learn how to learn then any language is easy(ish).
You could, however, probably learn VB faster than doing MCSE and/or any Batchelors degree. Then do an exam such as MCP - see microsoft.com

It's hard to tell about good schools since I don't know where you live. If you live in the US then MIT or CIT are the best schools in my opinion (CIT is considered to be the best school in the US). I myself will go to UMASS (University of Massachusetts) next year and luckily for me $ is no problem since I'll have a full four-year scholarship (every mother's dream :) ).
The other thing is the MCSE or Batchelor's Degree. I would go for the second one. As Steven said MCSE doesn't have to lead to VB training. Batchelor's Degree certainly would. Second thing about MCSE vs. BG - if you go for MCSE you would end up in a job you don't like and you would be affraid to quit because it probably would be good salary job. With BG you have more flexibility. In the NY area I've seen many adds in the newspapers about VB programmers with 4 year college (Computer Science Major). And as far as I know the salary would be bigger for VB programmer with 4 year college than for MSCE with 9 months of training.
But it's up to you if you want to get quite good job go for MCSE. But if you want good job then go to college. Education pays good.
All the best

You may also want to consider a computer school to learn programming. These are generally accelerated programs that take less than a year to complete. (Schools like CLC, Chubb Institute, etc.)

Thanks guys, for your replies.
I work nights - so as soon as I woke up this morning - I read the replies.
I'll probably take your advice on the programming road.
I've learned from experience that a job is only worth its pay when you like going to the job.
