I'm running XP Pro SP1 .
Not I. I've been running SP1 for a while and haven't noticed any performance drop. Maybe it changed one of your settings or something???
nothing at all was changed . The first update was fine , but the last one was horrible . Try it yourself ..lol
Everything works fine here. Perhaps just format and try it from a clean install?
No way !
I got this on a recient e-mail newsletter from computer world....Quote:

Latest Windows XP Patch Can Slow Down PCs
Users say that Windows XP can take up to 10 seconds to start an
application after a patch Microsoft released last week is installed.

Yep the SP is crap

I have just SP'd two systems.
System one:
AMD 800Mhz T-Bird
196Mb SDR
20Gb 5400
That now takes an age to boot... even with /noguiboot enabled. When it's finished booting, it's fab.
System two:
AMD XP 2100+
1024Mb DDRII
400Gb 7200 (2x200) in RAID 1
This system was SP'd from clean install, and boots in around 15-20 seconds. When it's finished booting, it runs perfectly. I run my primary OS in a VM anyway, so re-installing now is no problem!

Paul.
Thanks for the link techgnome . This makes me feel better that I'm not alone with this bug . It's really slowing my pc . They didn't mention how to fix it , right ?
Have you ever heard the old saying: "If it works don't fix it???"....One of those I live togheter with has stopped using SPs at all. Every time he is downloading one his coputer is going on a veacation....;)
lol , It could be right somehow . How the hell can we fix MS's faults without these fixes ? I guess we have to use them to the last day .
I downloaded the security update posted in the link above , that made my internet connection more quite slow . . Btw , Is it advisable not to remove updates although I can uninstall them now ?Quote:
My teachers always told me: "Never touch a running system!"Quote:

¨Last time I looked up that word in "websters" it said: "Running is an Iraqi knowing that that 200.000 american soldiers are invading their country"........
What the hell does this mean ??:rolleyes:Quote:

Reg reader Granville Gough writes: "If you are running WinXP and install this fix, your machine will be compromised. It will slow to a crawl, taking up to 30 seconds to open a spreadsheet, Word doc, run Meidaplayer and more."
"The problem goes away if the fix is removed," he adds.
Hmm , so it's better to leave it as it is now or reinstalling XP again .
I removed it and now my PC runs fine again.
Thanks for telling me that . Surely , I'll remove this crap right now .Quote:
