Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov hotly denied selling military equipment in violation of international sanctions against Iraq. "No fact supporting the American's anxiety has been found," he said.Quote:

But Powell told Fox News that the Bush administration has given Ivanov and his government "more than enough information" to support its assertion. Administration officials said the accusations were based on confidential U.S. intelligence.
"President Putin assured President Bush that he would look into it," Fleischer said. "President Bush said he looked forward to hearing the results."
I have my doubts about this. Why would they? They havn't got anything to match American technology. They can screw up a few bombs with GPS jamming, but that would only kill their own people (send bombs off course).
It won't affect the outcome of this war, only prolong it with more death.
it would be really fun to play russia in a model UN
bah...who cares. the USA trained Osama to fight the Soviets....same thing, different people/country.
expect nothing less of the world.
Maybe your secretary of state will someday learn that the UN is an international body while Fox News is only a news channel. :rolleyes:Quote:

Also if Russia indeed supplied or is supplying weapons to Baghdad, could you answer these three points?
1. Why is the US afraid to make the evidence public, i.e. available to people other than Mr. GWB Jr and maybe Mr. Ivanov? A third person's opinion could perhaps lend some credibility to the accusations
2. When the US and British warplanes have been keeping a tight vigil over the Iraqi airspace for the past several months, the US warships are harboured in the Gulf, and all borders of Iraq being closely watched because of the war, where do you think the Russians sent in the weapons? How come no other country was aware of it?
3. What if Russia is trying to make money at the US' expense? After all the US is doing the same at Iraq's expense. First the war will hit Iraq's oil industry and the US will put a stooge government in there so it can dictate terms for the Iraqi oil. Then it will award huge contracts, running into millions of dollars for rebuilding Iraq, which it has destroyed itself, and much of this cost will be collected from the Iraqis and probably from other nations in the name of peace-keeping and rebuilding. The US is eyeing a much larger share of the pie than the Russia, provided Russia indeed was supplying weapons.
4. There's no legal ground for the war against Iraq as the UN did not authorize it. It should perhaps be the moral obligation of the other countries to help Iraq fight it off.
.
And don't forget the Allies sold Iraqi their chemical and biological weapons in the first place.
Dictator vs Dictator. :rolleyes:Quote:
