Hide a File or Restricting User to change Attributes

I am setting certain attributes of a file through my vb software.. Now i don want the user to change that attribute through any drive by selecting that file and change its attributies through the properties windows of a file..

It would also be nice if i could hide a file and the user should not be able to view that file except through my software..

Please help as i am working of a Document Management System which involves a lot of security to files..
