!!!IIS!!! Help
I have tried web-matrix, but, I now have VS.NET. I do not have IIS 5 because I have XP Home, not XP Pro. Does ne one know any programs(free) besides IIS5 which I can use with VS.NET to develop ASP.NET apps with? Or is it possible to configure to work with "web matrix" server? Thanx in advance ppl.

This is why I purchased XP Pro.
The only alternative that I know of is the Mono project.
There may be others, I haven't really looked.

There are some work arounds (hacks) out there that will let you run IIS on Win XP Home. Do a search on google or something. If you get it running, you might be able to use your VS.Net to create web apps.
Just to add, once you use VS.Net to create web apps, you will 'hate' the web matrix. It is free though, but very sub-standard when you compare it to VS.Net and the intellisense.

I love VS.NET
I know what you mean. The thing is not getting IIS to work, its finding it. I cannot find it on the net. :(

Does PWS (Personal Web Server) work under XP? It was capable of handling ASP, and I think MS implied it would work with ASP.NET.
You could try investigating that on the Mirosoft site.

Sorry
It appears microsoft has done everything they can to make PWS not work on WinXP. It won't properly detect Winsock2 in compatability mode and says it needs Win95 when I don't have compatability mode. I don't like microsoft

Actually there were seperate Win9x and WinNT versions of PWS.
You would need to try the WinNT version.
But, it probably wouldn't work either (that would be too easy).

No, you need IIS for .Net to work, the whole structure of IIS 5 and soon to be version 6 is built differently than PWS is. PWS won't do ASP.Net apps. As far as finding it, you should try to find a friend with the XP Pro CD or Win 2000 CD. These have IIS on them.
