Has anyone (home user or otherwise) actually gone up to OC's yet?
What's the best connection you have? What download speed's do you get?
Regards,
Paul.

im stuck with 56k until we get DSL avaliable
Whats an OC? BTW, I have a 768kb connection which with a heck of a lot of tweaks is more like 890kb.(Thats what lots of speed tests come up with between 850-950 thing)
Where's the option for "Cable"? :gg:
Z.
An OC is an Optical Carrier... Fibre optics basically! An OC12 is a 622Mbps STM (Synchronous Transport Module) / ATM
Dead quick! Most BIG ISP's use OC12's as the backbone.
I ran out of space! :D 512, 1024 & 2048 are usually classed as cable anyway!Quote:

I can probably add that in for you ;)Quote:

Our backbone is OC-12, but I can't get more than about 27mbit downloads on here (then again that could be the speed test site which is only rated up to 5mbit, heh).
Go for it! :)Quote:

Parksie...
The connection's probably capped in some way... which is a pain in the ar$e. OC12's are pretty expensive, and OC256 doesn't bare thinking about! :p
BTW... i know it's L8.. but congrats on your Mod'ship! ;)
I have a cable connection which was rated the best internet connection in this area....
i did a speed test late at night when i figured traffic would be low and i tested at dslreports.com for over 4 megs!!!!! is that even possible out of cable???
Heh, thanks ;)Quote:

It would be a maximum of 100mbit to me anyway (don't have a fast enough card). Besides, how am I going to use that much bandwidth? :p
I'de sure as hell try!!! :)
Share it between hundreds of users... and see what you can peak! I'll even help, cause that's the sort of person I am! LOL
*Me tries to sound generous*

Paul.
1) You could stick in a couple of intel 20/200 meg cards, so get youself 400mbps connection on your network.Quote:
