Replacement Media???
My MS Office 2000 CD has a small scratch on it that is unfortunately enough to stop it reading a vital part of the CD and it doesn't install properly.
I have tried using some CD repair polish but no joy.
Anyone know what my options are here? eg. Can I return it to M$ and get a replacement - possibly for payment of an admin fee?

If you can send MS a copy of your license, they will replace the cd FOC.
There's an MS depo in London, somewhere. I'm just trying to find it for you. It will need to be checked with the database to make sure it's your license, but they are usually pretty good with this sort of thing.
I'd never trust that CD repair polish anyway M8y, it's really just a quick-fix solution and certainly not long-term.
Regards,
Paul.

Cool - that's exactly what I wanted to hear!
I did have a look on the MS site but couldn't find anything about damaged CDs.
Have found the address & phone number of the London Office though so shall give them a ring on Monday.

Fantastic...
Hope they sort it out for you. You are allowed to make one copy of the master CD, in-case it ever happens again.

Paul.

Microsoft don't replace broken cd's free of charge as far as I know.
Just ring any Microsoft reseller and ask for an "Office 2000 Pro/Standard Media Kit".
The distributors sell them for about €25, and resellers normally mark that up to anything from €35 - €50.

I apologise to both of you.
I've just called the Microsoft Head Office, and it seems they now charge around £14 per disc, and it could take up to 7 working days for a replacement.
I am deeply sorry. I didn't know they had changed their policy on faulty or damage media since I last returned an item.
Regards,
Paul.
Remind's me of that sig... "I'm not a complete idiot, there's still some parts missing" ;)

Ya know, you could make your reply more formal if you wrote it on headed notepaper and faxed it to us ;)
Anyway it'd be much quicker to just pickup a media kit from a reseller... or a distributor if you could convince them to sell to you...

And the fax number is.... ;)

Paul.
