let me explain clearly.when i openened i have chosen ActiveX Control. i put some controls and put code behind that. I made it project1.ocx.when i ran the program by hitting F5. it turned into web page. is that a component that i can distribute. or is that some thing else.whats difference between the activexDLL and activex controls.

not the most scientific explanation, but here's a start: activex controls (ocx'es) do have an user interface (somehow like a form), and activex dll's dont.
activex controls need to be 'seated' on a container, usually a form. the reason why your vb ide launches your control in exploere is because you didnt tell it where you want your object to be used. therefore i would suggest to go file > add project, select a standard exe, add your control to a form of your exe, and then right-click on the new project in the 'project group' window and select it for 'set as startup'. this way you can test both your host app and your object at the same time. good luck.
