Semi-official confirmation of the deaths:
US Flag flying at half-mast at NASA Mission Control Centre
:(
The NASA press conference is scheduled for 1PM eastern.
looks like its going to be delayed again...I don't want to miss it :(
if anyone has a tv tuner card, could they possibly record it? I have to go (pick up our new dog :D ) in 15 minutes, I want to see what they have to say :(
its not on at 1 obviously, 20 minutes past, still awaiting word from NASA on when it has been rescheduled to
scratch that, its on now...
They didnt say anything new. They confirmed that the astronauts could not have survived, but thats about it. There is going to be a more extensive press conference at 3PM eastern, where they said they'll answer questions.
what happened at that one? I missed it
Rest in peace to the 7 human beings who lost their lives.Quote:

Z.
Government has already confirmed that the crash didn't seem to come from any ground interference ie it got shot down.
Kind of sad what a factor terrorism is playing in The States nowadays.
Well you can't blame them for checking...
My reaction exactly, when the BBC correspondent Mark somebody was stressing the absence of terrorism factor repeatedly :(Quote:

India is sharing this loss with the US and the Israel because we have lost Kalpana Chavla. I saw on the TV she was the most experienced member of the crew?
Funny, just the earlier day the Times carried a front-page photo of Kalpana with the news the Columbia would be landing within the next few hours, and it also carried the photographs of the three Miss India finalists on the page. Wouldn't take a second guess to know who looked more beautiful.
I was numb watching the news on BBC. :(

CIA and some of The President's staff (3 food testers) are staying at a friend's hotel. From what he's heard, since 9/11, Bush gets about 3 hours of sleep a night.
