As I post this there is a link in VB Wire to
Creating High-Tech Forms in Visual Basic. I know that many, or perhaps even all of the topics covered in the article could probably be found if you searched our forums, but it's nice to have all the information in one place and in the form of a tutorial.
It was okay, however I didn't learn anything that I didn't already know. And the news items really suck-
"I released a new version!" *post*
"I figured out how to do what everyone else has been doing since VB5!" *post*
If there were some descriptions as to what a "Query-Blaster 1.14.55 Update version" does, I might click on it.

Still there's no excuse for a VBForums news list making things ugly. We've very rarely found gems like these, right? (this is the first time)
I'd click it if it wasn't just another ad. Plus, vbwire.com is now blocked on all computers I have access to as to limit the amount of ads that waste bandwidth. Am still waiting for the AMD ads to get their own host so that I can block them too.Quote:

Two things I didn't like:
1) He used CreatePolyRgn to create regions with holes. Why bother with the calculations when you could just join the regions with RGN_DIFF?
2) The text thing is even worse. I mean, if you want a text with a windows logo (a character in wingdings), how are you going to PolyRgn that? He could have just taught the BeginPath, EndPath, DrawText, and the PathToRegion APIs to make MUCH better text regions (I've made windows-shaped, shapes of many characters in WebDings, and shapes that read "This computer is possessed by Egyptions!!!" - try doing that with CreatePolyRgn).
How about creating a tutorial or demo project that does it "right"?
