I had "Pinne kjøtt" we have that every year....
Care to elaborate on exactly what a "Pinne kjøtt" is? I, for one, have never even heard of it...
Directly translated it would probably be something like "Stick meat"....you take a sheep and cuts off all his ribs, so you get long peaces of meat with a rib in it...then you cook (steam) it on sticks in a big kettle (pan)...
Ah, you're from Norway I see...
I once had a Norweigen festive dish...can't remember what it was called but it was comprised of this:
Slices of different salami's on one plate and a kind of semolina porridge thing sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon in another dish. You ate it with flat bread.
Bit of a dodgy combination if you ask me! :p
Are you sure you wasn't sitting in the kennel when you visited Norway, because that didn't sound like a festive dish...
BTW: We ate turkey at New Years Eave....
It was cooked for us by a Norweigen couple that assured us that it was a traditional Norwegien festive dish...Quote:

I've never enjoyed turkey, prolly because whoever cooked it made it too dry. Till this year! We saw a different kind of recipe in a newspaper which made the turkey really juicy and tasty. Cholesterol alert tho'.
Basically chop up a heap of bacon, and mix it with loads of butter. Add fresh herbs and the zest of a lemon. Stick this goo under the skin between the skin and the flesh, and stick the zestless lemon in the cavity. Roast very slow- my wife used (I think) about 150c for about 4 hours.
And a lump of gammon done the normal way with cloves and a glaze.
And a banana and butterscotch trifle. Can't remember the details of the recipe but it meant melting a load of sugar and pouring it over a pile of sliced bananas, then boudior bikkies on top with some brandy and then custard of course and cream on top.
Ahhh Place enough gravy on turkey and it aint dry :D :D :D
Deep fried chicken lips and monkey feet.
I had grilled Warthog, with juniper berries and a sautéed plumber.
I had bonker. With white wine and lounge chair. Delicious he was :yummy:
