Are there any good free mail clients out there? I've tried a few, but they all suck pretty bad.

Opera!
Right now I'm using something called "Vivian Mail."
It's not too bad. Any other ideas?
I used Eudora for a while, which was pretty good, but some e-mails had chunks of it missing (I think from dodgy MS only type HTML). Now I use Mozilla's mail client, and I'm totally happy with it. If you download a nightly build it also has a junk mail filter with it.
I got Outlook 98 free on a cover CD once :)
Outlook Express, or telnet... Then again, all I use my email client for is email... :wierd:
Z.
Yeah, strange that.
I use Evolution now, it's pretty funky :)
Write your own!

Outlook Express can show animated GIF and all image files along with the message (ie. users don't need to click on every image to view it). If you find any other e-mail client offering this facility, please let me know.
Thanx
I'm pretty sure Mozilla does. Plus you can configure it to display attachments (incl. other HTML files) as part of the message body, so no need to open attachments manually :) Plus it has better support for PNG/MNG (I don't think Outlook supports Alpha transparency or Gamma, let alone MNG does it?)
One thing to remember here.
A lot of images in HTML mails, especially junk mails, are used to track you. So, if you even *read* the message, they know you're alive.
Just something to bear in mind, and it's the reason why I disabled automatic image loading in Evolution.

wow. thats quite a sneaky one.
Indeed. Nobody ever said they were stupid, though...
Yeah, whenever I recieve an e-mail from someone I don't know I click the little "Online/Offline" button at the bottom and then open it. If it's spam I just delete it straight away.
it may explain why i'm now getting 10 spam per day instead of 10 per month....Quote:
