Router

Hi!
I'm trying to make a router by placing 2 netcards in my computer.
Then I put the cable from the internet into card 1 and a cable from card 2 to the hub.
But here comes the problem: When I use my internet connection many ports are blocked, ex 4662 for eDonkey which results in a lowid.
Anyone know how to open ports on a home made router??.....

Try using proxy server software on the host machine.

WinGate is a good proxy server, costs a little bit of cash-money though

If you type in the router's ip (for me its 192.168.1.1) in IE, it might let you change settings. (thats for linksys)

He's building his own router.

What type of OS are you running on the router? If you are running windows, just turn on Internet connection Sharing, and share the connection. It should open all ports. If it's Linux, then you will need to mess with the IP tables I think.. don't ask me how to do it, I've never done it personally.

I'm running w2k and I belive I have done all that, but still I get lowids in edk(on the pc sharing the connection)....any other ideas???
