IIS question

im using IIS 5 on win2k pro. on the maximum users it says 10, when i try to change it it says its hardcoded in. is there any type of certificate or somethng that will let me have more users?

When they say 10 users, I believe they really are talking about 10 concurrent threads at a time. You should still be able to have any number of users the server can handle, but only 10 requests happen at any one time .Any others get pooled.

10 requests at one time, does this affect the session values???

No. The session stuff should still be in memory.

Where are you seeing the max no clients written? Is it in the Licensing option of the "Control Panel".
As far as i know, these number is for maximum no of concurrent connections over your local network. This in no way hampers the IIS. The number of threads should also no be a problem.

in iis under connections, it was limited to 10 and i thought that only 10 people could view my webserver at once

Sorry to dissapoint you, but now it seems you were right in your first post. In W2K Pro, your IIS server is limited to 10 simultaneuos connections. That means only 10 users can connect to your IIS server at a time.
Just looked it in the IIS help. I first thought you were looking into the W2K Pro licensing. Sorry:(

btw: do you know if its possible to get the .NET server yet? at student fees or anything cheep?

I asked the same question once before and somebody told me that the IIS that comes with 2000 advance server is set up for Unlimited connections. I would like to get my hands on that one.

Even W2K server allows unlimited connection for that matter.

And its not just IIS, Windows File Sharing has a ten connection limit if you're not running Server.
