I had that at startup, but mine wouldn't boot and I had to get a replacement. Have you checked inside your case for anything that may be wrong? Just make sure you make backups all the time ;)
I have been inside - cant see anything wrong1
I have run health checks but they come back all clear.
Its a mystery to me, and cant seem to solve it!
Well, I would think it needs replacing then..
But, we'll wait for Ricks decision :)
Do yuo think the heads could be out of alignment?
Wouldn't have a clue :D
Maybe somethings blocking the thing that moves around reads the disk (laser yeah?)
But as I said, Rick would probably no more about it than I do. But as Rick said, he had to get a replacement
Try running ScanDisk (if you have a version of Windows that has it), you might just have some bad sectors (which the drive will ignore if it knows).
If the drive is fairly new, get it replaced (if you have lots of bad sectors, replace it anyway!)
PS: the reading/writing is done by magnetic heads. ;)
Run a burn-in test on the HDD. If it fails, there's your problem!
What's a burn-in test?Quote:

:D I think you're placing too much stock in my opinion ;) The only other thing I would have suggested is what si_the_geek the said and check for bad sectors. But it does sound like your HD could go at any time. :eek:Quote:
