I have a PII 233 MHz CPU in my old PC, and my friend maybe getting me a PIII 600 MHz CPU, but it doesn' have a fan or heatsink. Should I be able to use the old heatsink and fan on the new one?

Its just a spiky chunk of metal and little whirry thing... should work fine =).
Z.
I had no problem using a Socket 370 heatsind on a Socket 7 CPU.
However, is your new CPU slot or socket?
Thanks for the replies.

It's a socket 1 type, you think it will make any difference?Quote:

No such thing as Socket 1 ;) if the P3 is a slot type, it'll work, if it's socket type, it won't. Simple as that (since there are no socketed P2s)
Tell that to someone putting a Socket 370 cooler on a Socket A system *crrrrrrunch* :DQuote:

Oh yeah, sorry I meant to say slot! I think my mind must have been elsewhere, what with the dirty movies on my screen ;) It's my new PC that has the socket type.Quote:
