Two years ago, there was a virus call Laroux. It embedded two phony hidden sheets in an Excel workbook. Odd enough, both sheets have the exact name - "XXXXXX". The only way to see them are going through the code window for Excel.
Everytime closing the workbook, it gives some type of error and when you click OK, it just shut the entire Excel down. However, it leaves Excel running in the PROCESS tab of the Task Manager.
Anyone knows how to kill the process or to get rid of this virus. It has infected hundreds and hundreds of workbooks at my company.

Try this!
I had that very same problem a few years ago, I used the McAfee Anti-virus program and it was able to get rid of the Laroux virus for me.
Good Luck.

Thanks Necromancer!
What version of the MacAfee is it because it is not working for us? What version of Excel were you using at the time?
When the MacAfee got rid of it, what was the end result? Did you loose your data sheets along with it?
Thanks again.

?
We were using the latest version of McAfee at the time, I believe it was in 1998. sorry, I don't remember the version. The Office program was Office 95.
Have you tried the McAfee web site? To see what they say about the Laroux? Might be worth a visit.
Jim
----We did not lose any data sheets, when we cleaned the computers with McAfee.
