Creating a shortcut on a remote machine

I'm trying to create a shortcut using machine A, to a file on machine machine X (c:\myfile.exe). When i copy the file using API copy_file in the logon script it creates a shortcut pointing to the file on machine A instead of the file on machine X.

Does anyone know of a way around this?
