An Old PC Problem
My dad just brought a REALLY old PC because some guy was trying to get rid of it... well I opened it up and to my suprise, there was only one fan in the whole pc and that was the power cooling.. that's it... no CPU fan, no nothing...
anyway, everything was sticking out and even the Mobo wasn't even attached to the case...
so I connected it to my monitor and fired it up but I didnt get far. At the boot screen, it was doing a Memory test and then after it detects all the hdds, CD-Rom and so on, it gives me an error saying:
Keyboard error occured or no keyboard detected.
Memory Test Failed
on the bottom it say "press F1 to continue or DEL to go to Setup" well.. if it can't detect the keyboard how the hell am i suppposed to press F1 or DEL???
so I was wondering if you have any suggestions as to what I might do to fix this..
By the way, i posted this on NXSupport as well because I"m trying to get this fixed ASAP...thanks
thanks

Did you make sure you keyboard was connected? lol. Does it have PS/2 ports on it, or is it so old that it has an AT keyboard port (bigger than PS/2) and a serial connection for the mouse? If you have the keyboard plugged in all the way, and it still doesn't see it, then it may be a bad motherboard, with the keyboard burnt out. I just did that to a motherboard the other day at work... it was an old 266, and we have these cameras we plug into the capture card, but they don't have a power adapter, so we have special adapters that daisy chain off the keyboard port... well I put too much power through the keyboard port, and now it's a dead mobo... :( But it's ok, cause we have 7 more of them in the cabinet... hehe.
