you can't eliminate them, but if you use scandisk (or defrag if you don't have it) that comes with Windows - it should stop those parts of the disk from being used.
If you're willing to pay for a good tool, try SpinRite: http://grc.com
if thei are bad sectors made by the software, will be automaticly detected by the windows scandisk, if you have bad sectors made by the sohocks of your case then try to save all your datas into a safe place and format your HDD by typing in MS-DOS mode: Format c: /C I think this is your solution! It`s just my opinion!
Bad sectors mean the disk's physically knackered ;)
You will need to do a deep sector scan with ScanDisk or a better utility, it could take hours.
Try a regular scan first, just so you don't waste time.
You can't fix a bad sector, the drive can however remark it so it knows not to store data on the bad sector.
Check the drive manufacturer and they may have a utility to check for a defective drive. Hopefully they will give you a free replacement. If you bought your computer from a major company (Dell, Compaq, etc) call them and they should warranty the drive if it's found defective.
one or two bad sectors are manageable. Any more than this and the disk is knackered and needs replacement - bad sectors can spread and corrupt further data.
if you dropped the HD you might want to forget about it and start backing up yoru stuff now
also, i tried that taggin the bad sectors thing once...didn't work? the stupid computer kept on dwriting data to them (IBM drive)
